Confident Signals from Nuremberg

The annual BIOGAS conference and trade show ran in Nuremberg from January 14th to 16th, 2014 and enjoyed a lively assembly, with Dr.-Ing. RITTER Apparatebau GmbH & Co. KG alongside 406 exhibitors and over 8,000 professional attendees.

The first impressions from these exhibitors and attendees are generally positive. Though the atmosphere in the industry is somewhat subdued because of current instability in the market, most companies are optimistic about the future, and were glad to have stimulating technical conversations and make a large number of promising new contacts. Growth of existing efficiency potentials, development of international brands and a turn towards flexible, demand-centered power allocation were some approaches proposed to solve the tough problems the industry is currently facing. The professional association called for setting a course for sustainability in policy, and is ready to do their part by shouldering more responsibility in the biogas sector.

RITTER gas meters were again displayed at the booths of partner fimgs at BIOGAS 2014. Attendees were highly interested in the integration of RITTER’s drum-type gas meters into the pilot plant of the firm UIT (www.uit-gmbh.de) as well as the RITTER MilliGascounter, which is integrated as a permanent feature into the biogas analysis systems of the firm BlueSens ).

“Among the numerous professionals at our booth were many experts from research and development fields, who were specifically interested in the advantages of our volumetric gas meters,” outlined Dr. Joachim Ritter, Managing Director of Dr.-Ing. RITTER Apparatebau GmbH & Co. KG. “Our Biogas Batch Fermentation System with automatic data logging got a lot of attention from that, just like at previous biogas fairs. The automatic real-time data logging is a considerable time-saver in fermentation tests that can last a week, representing a huge reduction in personnel costs — especially since up to 24 fermentation vessels can be handled simultaneously by RITTER gas meters. Additionally, the strong interest of South American attendees highlights the increasing importance of biogas research and development in these countries, a continuing trend since last year. We’ve also been especially happy to observe at this fair a growing demand for biogas research in Russia.”
